Dear Phala Community,
We hereby submit our funding proposal to cover the operation and maintenance costs of Subscan Explorer services for Phala and Khala for the period from Q3 2024 to Q1 2025 (a total of 9 months).
Since the Khala network ceased operations on January 10, only historical data is retained for users to access. To optimize costs while maintaining accessibility, we have introduced a cost-effective archive network package for 2025-Q1, priced at just 13.2% of the 2024-Q4 rate. And based on the good liquidity of PHA, we waive the 5% Service Charge this time. This adjustment significantly reduces infrastructure expenses while ensuring continued data availability.
Service Details
Subscan has been diligently providing the following essential services for Phala & Khala:
- Computing Resources: Collecting and parsing chain data, and serving web user requests to ensure smooth network operations.
- Database Storage: Indexing and storing chain data for seamless data retrieval and accessibility.
- Network Egress Bandwidth: Maintaining optimal network performance to cater to web user requests.
- Monitoring and DevOps: Implementing an internal alerting pipeline and automation for stable network operations.
- Node Status Monitoring and Notification: Promptly notify the network development team of any issues.
- Technical Support: Offering comprehensive technical assistance for the networks' uninterrupted functioning.
Summary of Current Charges
Following the cooperation contract and agreement signed by both parties, the details of the fees are as follows.
Due to the characteristics of delayed payment within the treasury mechanism, we will be invoicing for three months of operational fees in advance, covering the period of 2025 Q1. This proactive measure is essential to ensure the ongoing stability and maintenance of the project.
Subscan Maintenance Packages offers tiered pricing based on actual usage of data services:
- Basic: Up to 200 GB at $799/month; beyond 200 GB at $5.3/GB; upgrades automatically to the next plan after 350 GB.
- Advanced: Up to 500 GB at $1,699/month; beyond 500 GB at $5.2/GB; upgrades automatically after 750 GB.
- Professional: Up to 1 TB at $2,999/month; beyond 1 TB at $5/GB.

We are asking for money to keep Subscan Explorer services working for Phala and Khala from Q3 2024 to Q1 2025. Khala network stopped working, but we still keep old data for people to see. We found a cheaper way to save money and still keep the data available. We won't charge an extra 5% service fee because PHA has good money value.
Subscan helps Phala and Khala by:
- Using computers to collect and understand chain data
- Storing chain data in a database
- Keeping the network working well
- Watching and fixing any problems
- Telling the team if there are any issues
- Giving technical help when needed
We will ask for money for 3 months in advance to make sure everything keeps working well. The cost depends on how much data we use. Here are the prices:
- Basic: Up to 200 GB for $799/month, more than 200 GB is $5.3/GB
- Advanced: Up to 500 GB for $1,699/month, more than 500 GB is $5.2/GB
- Professional: Up to 1 TB for $2,999/month, more than 1 TB is $5/GB
